Past and present exchange mischievous glances as daily life unfolds along a vibrant domestic journey
Designer Daniele Daminelli – Studio2046 is behind the project of this captivating restoration. We are in Treviglio, in the province of Bergamo, where a concealed chapter of the 1930s has been reopened: a warehouse and executive offices – in fact, never used as offices but as the homes of three factory managers.

It was love at first sight, both for Daminelli and for his wife Giulia, and it took little time to understand that this archaic structure could become the perfect place to live. The first clue lay in the details: the windows, the doors, the handles… The underlying architecture was already almost perfect as it was, enough to remain faithful to it. Instead, the focus was on a restoration capable of making the spaces vibrate once again.
The guiding thread is respect for rationalist architecture, yet the outcome feels contemporary, almost provocative. False ceilings that had concealed decorative plasterwork were removed, restoring the original proportions and revealing cornices that now converse with furniture imbued with a modern style.
The project stitches together temporal breaks: marble and plaster face high-tech materials, while carefully calibrated finishes speak of artisanal hands and modern mechanisms.

Here, restoration is not mere refurbishment: it is an aesthetic fusion. Historical elements have been preserved and softened by new details that enhance and contemporise them.
A home breathing across two eras that shows how the brave and careful restoration of an old design can become an act of creation, a small miracle in which history comes alive once more, clothed in today.
