Masterfully renovated and balanced between elegance, colour, and spaces flooded with light, this Victorian house comes to life again
Over a century later the 1906 earthquake, respecting the surviving Victorian structure that withstood the disaster and following the design and direction of architect Todd Davis, alongside the interior design consultancy of Sara Story, the owners embarked on a nearly two-year restoration process.

After obtaining the necessary permits, an extension was added to the second floor. It included an expansion of the kitchen area, incorporating what was once the laundry porch and technical space, while adapting the surface area. In addition, a family room was created with the extension.
Today, the kitchen and the adjoining family room form the beating heart of daily living. It is a welcoming and functional space that enables the owners to fully enjoy their new lifestyle. It is a kind of “chameleon” space that, with the use of pocket doors, can be transformed, depending on the needs, into an office corner, a guest room, or an extension of the kitchen.

As is typical in this type of construction, this area is located on the interior side of the house, facing north. During the renovations, to make the most of the natural light, architect Todd Davis decided to enlarge the windows that overlook the courtyard, increasing the brightness of the rooms.
