GREEN LOFT

01/04/2026

In Milan accents of colour bring nature closer, while the city’s chaos fades away amidst relaxing environments, harmony and all-round comfort

The renovation and furnishing of this loft, located in one of Milan’s central districts, were entrusted to Roberto Barbero and Jose Rodriguez of Studio Rodriguez, based in Alassio. Previously, the entire space within a large courtyard was occupied by various artisan workshops. Once the areas were partitioned and the relevant permits obtained, the spaces were sold and purchased individually.

Given the generous ceiling heights, the interiors were perfect for a domestic transformation. The project was developed with the aim of emphasising the site’s industrial aesthetic while simultaneously conveying comfort and, above all, tranquillity within a chaotic city like Milan. While the internal volumes remained unchanged, the spaces were optimised to accommodate more residents, focusing on comfort without neglecting the aesthetic appeal.

A spacious living area welcomes guests at the entrance, featuring wallpaper panels depicting glimpses of nature, evocative of a winter garden. Opposite stands a kitchen designed by Studio Rodriguez. Fully equipped with every modern comfort, it was chosen in a shade of green to echo the other details of the project.

The designers explain: “For this project, we chose very neutral colours to highlight the selection of wallpaper, which becomes the main feature of the home’s decoration. Certainly, the combination of natural and artificial light is always a challenge, especially in an open-plan space”.
