A loft preserves and enhances the spirit of Milan’s industrial past, turning it into the charm of family living
Cristiana, the owner, personally oversaw the renovation and interior design of this loft, an echo of a working past in the heart of Milan’s most industrious district. Once used as a workspace, it has been brought back to life through a careful and meticulous restoration and conservation project.

“At the beginning of the work, I decided to seek advice from a design consultant to guide me in choosing contractors, materials and the structural solutions best suited to the space,” she explains. “From the outset, I made it clear that I would retain full control and supervision of the project, and that the character of industrial Milan had to be preserved and enhanced.”
The generous and striking space – almost a natural stage that could easily serve as a photographic or cinematic set – consists of a large mezzanine loft containing a small selection of carefully chosen design objects.
The light – fluid, soft and enveloping – gently touches and washes over the objects, entering through the large skylights as well as through the wide glazed entrance wall.

The flooring, like the furnishings, fully reflects the industrial character of the space, consisting of large slabs of quartz-polished concrete.
