A penthouse in the heart of Milan where light, materials and the geometry of an attic are transformed into a refined and enveloping domestic narrative
Within the historic fabric of vibrant Milan, among the rooftops that shape the skyline of the city centre, this penthouse reveals itself as an exercise in style where architectural rigour meets the deeper warmth of a true “nest”. The complete renovation, carried out by architect Lucio Micheletti, was guided by the desire to create a highly personalised home for a couple.

The spatial layout has been reconsidered through a gesture that is measured yet incisive: different ceiling heights become rhythm, while the slopes of the roof suggest movement and unexpected openings. Natural light, captured by skylights and carefully positioned windows, glides across the surfaces and enhances their depth, creating an atmosphere that is intimate yet never compressed. Each room is conceived as part of a coherent narrative in which visual continuity reinforces the perception of a fluid, enveloping space, with a cinematic atmosphere.
Every detail has been crafted with meticulous attention: from the ribbed boiserie that discreetly integrates technology – concealing storage and technical systems – to the striking arched display cabinet in fluted glass, evoking the charm of period residences while reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens. The bespoke furnishings, designed specifically to follow the sloping lines of the attic, become an integral part of the architecture, eliminating any standardised solutions.

The result is a home rich in atmosphere and enveloping in character, where the living area flows naturally towards the sleeping quarters through a sequence of dynamic perspectives.
