Faced with an apartment that was nearly complete yet lacked coherence, they made the bold decision to demolish everything and begin again from scratch
Sometimes an interior does not emerge from a clearly defined idea, but from a subtler feeling: the sense that everything has already been done, yet nothing truly seems to work. It was within this atmosphere that, at the end of 2021, the client approached ARTIMITRO, which explained how this captivating project was conceived and ultimately brought to completion.

The apartment was almost finished: the construction work was nearing completion, with only the furnishings and decorative elements still missing. On paper, the project appeared convincing; in reality, however, it lacked balance.
The decision to demolish and start anew came almost immediately for this 120-square-metre apartment, located within the Gardens of Beijing residential complex in Beijing. The apartment was conceived not as a setting for routine, but as a place of retreat. Not a space to move through hastily, but an environment designed to encourage slowing down.
The result is a restrained and essential language, built upon natural materials, clean geometries and a deliberate subtraction of the superfluous. The atmosphere recalls that of a Zen garden: abundance is irrelevant; what matters is the rhythm of pauses. The most significant transformation concerns the layout.

Beneath the project’s apparent simplicity lies sophisticated technology that manages lighting, climate, sound and curtains, while allowing only a sense of tranquillity to emerge.
