Raw Apartment embraces the honesty of its structure and materials, reinterpreting a historic model of experimental housing
Simple Architecture Studio, founded in 2017 by Alexander Yonchev, pursues a design research approach grounded in the dialogue between the rigour of minimalist architecture and the complexity of contemporary life.
Raw Apartment clearly embodies this approach through a project that places the tactile character of the materials and the original structure at its core.

Located in the western part of Novi Zagreb, near the River Sava, the apartment is set within a 1960s building conceived as an experimental housing project based on prefabricated units.
The renovation is based on a radical yet essential gesture: removing all finishes from walls, floors and ceilings to reveal the building’s authentic tactile character. Raw concrete thus emerges as the dominant element, defining the identity of the interior space without the addition of decorative features.

The project stands out for its essential and unconventional approach: instead of adding, it subtracts. By dispensing with decoration and highlighting structure and materials, Raw Apartment offers an authentic space in which the unfinished becomes a deliberate design value.
