A contemplative retreat immersed in the untamed landscape of the Mexican coastline embraces the power of the elements and turns them into architecture
Where vegetation intertwines freely and the ocean wind shapes everything in its path, the landscape retains a primordial, almost wild character that commands silence and respect. It is within this powerful and rugged setting that Casa de Mayo takes shape, on the coast of Oaxaca, overlooking the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean.

Built on Playa Mermejita, near Mazunte, the house unfolds across two levels and reflects an approach deeply attuned to its surroundings. The relationship with the surrounding environment thus becomes the guiding principle behind every decision, from the spatial arrangement to the tactile quality of the construction elements.
The main idea is to dissolve the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, creating a perceptual continuity shaped by glimpses, light and natural ventilation. Openings are not merely physical thresholds, but devices through which the landscape enters and extends into the living spaces. Every detail contributes to reinforcing this relationship, preserving the living identity of the place.

A dwelling that stands as an example of architecture deeply rooted in its context, capable of stepping back in order to leave space for the strength of the landscape.
