The sustainable luxury of reuse inspires this remarkable renovated residence, now shining with renewed light and character

Since 1897, this beautiful residence has told its own story – what it was and what it has become – without hesitation and with the strength of a distinct identity, shaped by the people who now bring it to life. The new owners are, in fact, the direct driving force behind this transformation, in which they have brought together taste and functional needs.

The harmony between the building’s exterior architecture and its interiors has been the guiding principle of the renovation of this large apartment. The intervention stems from the desire to restore coherence and identity to spaces that, over time, had been altered by two significant previous renovations – the first in the early 1960s and the second in the late 1980s – which had progressively distorted the original design.

The decision to return to the spatial layout as it was at the end of the 19th century marked the starting point of the project.

Particular attention was paid to materials. The original oak flooring was fully restored, while for the corridor, kitchen and bathrooms – originally finished in Venetian terrazzo, unfortunately now lost – a Carrara and Bardiglio marble finish was chosen.

The interior design also follows a logic of reuse and reinterpretation. Much of the furniture comes from the owners’ collection, built over more than thirty years of visiting antique markets and fairs, or from gifted pieces subsequently transformed by them.
