A tribute to a legendary name synonymous with high class, the Carlton Hotel in Milan is a landmark of international hospitality

The architectural project reflects the philosophy of the Forte family – hoteliers for four generations – who have curated a collection of properties in Europe’s finest locations. Historic buildings have been transformed into accommodation with a distinctive character, where the sense of place remains central and the guest experience is profoundly personal.
At the Carlton Hotel, this approach translates into interiors that blend Milanese style with the warmth and intimacy of a private residence: elegant spaces and well-designed bathrooms where bespoke furniture, curated artworks, fine fabrics and precious materials create both comfort and identity.

The interior design was overseen by Olga Polizzi, the group’s Director of Design, who has defined the Rocco Forte aesthetic for over twenty-five years. Her approach stems from a precise vision: every hotel should feel like a home – a truly elegant residence – while simultaneously reflecting the city in which it stands.
For Milan, she has imagined chic, balanced spaces where antique elements coexist with contemporary furnishings that are never impersonal or repetitive. The result is an original and welcoming environment, where soft lighting, tactile fibres and artisanal details create a sense of intimacy of rare grace.
During Design Week, the Carlton Hotel in Milan appears almost as a natural extension of the creative city: a place where design is not merely on display, but lived daily. Here, design is not limited to form; it becomes substance, experience, atmosphere and a warm welcome for Design Week aficionados. At the same time, it stands as a privileged observatory of a city that continues to reinvent itself.
