Augustus Hotel & Resort: the slow luxury of Forte dei Marmi, between history, villas and new openings

For more than seventy years, Augustus Hotel & Resort has stood as one of the most recognisable symbols of Forte dei Marmi and the Versilia coastline, an elite destination on the Tuscan Riviera. With its expansive park, villas immersed in greenery and a history deeply connected to the finest traditions of Italian hospitality, the resort has continuously reinterpreted the idea of an exclusive stay focused on tranquillity, wellbeing and timeless elegance.
At the heart of the estate stands Villa Pesenti, a refined Modernist work designed by Osvaldo Borsani, which for more than twenty years remained the only deluxe hotel in Versilia. Over time, seven villas with eclectic identities were added around this central residence.
In June 2024, these were joined by Villa Ala Anita and Villa Ala Bianca, developed through the restoration of an existing building and the construction of a new twin structure, both conceived to offer secluded hospitality immersed in the quiet atmosphere of the park.

The resort’s evolution continues. In 2025, the property acquired Villa Radici, a historic residence overlooking the iconic red entrance avenue and set within the private pine grove. Further defining the identity of the estate are the jewel-like swimming pool, La Nave — a structure immersed in the pine forest, distinguished by terraces recalling the decks of a cruise ship — Villa Agnelli and the exclusive Augustus Beach Club.
For 2026, the resort continues its path of renewal with the opening of Villa Ines, scheduled for early June. The new accommodation, located opposite Villa Radici and surrounded by the greenery of the park, will feature a living area on the ground floor and a suite on the upper level, within an environment designed to ensure privacy and comfort. The project, designed by DAST Studio, reinterprets Tuscan tradition through a language of simplicity and contemporary elegance, reaffirming the Augustus philosophy
