Lo Skyline di Hong Kong è bellissimo, una distesa di grattacieli con specchi che rilanciano luci e colori, insegne camaleontiche e un’alternanza tra alcune vecchie vie e costruzioni fantascientifiche.
Non è una vista qualsiasi, quella di questa città affacciata sull’acqua e protetta dalle montagne; le stesse che ospitavano i draghi, secondo la leggenda, e che oggi influenzano le strutture dei grandi palazzi costruiti nel rispetto del Feng-Shui.
Seguendo questa disciplina, che cerca l’armonia tra la natura e l’architettura, vengono oggi realizzati alti grattacieli concedendo allo spirito dei draghi la possibilità di spostarsi dalle montagne per raggiungere l’acqua.
Ecco dunque la ragione per cui i palazzi si muovono su piani sfalsati e molti vengono costruiti con un grande foro centrale che consente il passaggio dell’energia positiva che porta benefici all’intera comunità.
Hong Kong, situata nella parte meridionale della Cina, è una piazza cosmopolita che deve buona parte della fortuna commerciale al suo grande porto naturale; in origine era un piccolo villaggio di pescatori, poi è diventato una colonia britannica intorno al 1840, restando sotto il controllo della corona inglese fino al 1997, quando la sua gestione è tornata alla Cina.
Il suo sistema politico (come quello di Macao) è comunque diverso da quello della Cina continentale, avendo subito notevoli influenze storiche del mondo occidentale.
Hong Kong è oggi uno dei centri finanziari più importanti del mondo, un crocevia economico intensissimo basato essenzialmente sul terziario; un centro multietnico in cui è possibile fare davvero di tutto, tra la tradizione cinese e la vita metropolitana più progressista. Si raggiunge e si gira con grande facilità, vi si può pernottare anche senza visto, acquistare qualunque cosa, mangiare eccellente cucina fusion e praticare sport di giorno e di notte.
Di sicuro quello che non può mancare è una visita alla cima più alta dell’isola, il Victoria Peak, dal quale godersi un panorama magnifico. Anche una passeggiata lungo il Victoria Harbour è irrinunciabile: questo golfo separa l’isola di Hong Kong dalla terraferma ed è una delle mete più battute dai turisti, con frequenti giochi di artificio ad animare il cielo.

The Hong Kong skyline is beautiful, a multitude of skyscrapers with mirrors that revamp lights and colours, chameleonic signs, switching between ancient streets and sci-fi buildings.
Not an ordinary view – the one belonging to this city –, overlooking water but protected by the mountains, the same ones which harbored dragons – according to legend – and that today influence the structures of the big buildings erected according to Feng shui.
By pursuing this discipline that looks for the harmony between nature and architecture, high skyscrapers have been built, therefore allowing the spirit of dragons to move from mountains to get to the water. So that is the reason why all buildings move on staggering surfaces; most of them also have a central hole permitting the transfer of positive energy which benefits the whole community.
Hong Kong – placed in the Southern part of China – is a cosmopolitan location that owes most of its commercial luck to its large natural harbour; initially, it was just a small fishing village that later became a British colony around 1840, remaining under the British Crown control until 1997 when its management went back to Chinese government.
Anyway, its political system – as well as for Macau – is different from the one used in the mainland of China since it underwent several historic influences from the Western world.
Today, Hong Kong is one of the most important financial centres in the world; a very intense economic melting pot which is essentially based on the service sector; a multiethnic centre where you can do whatever you want between the Chinese tradition and the most progressive city life.
The location is easy to reach and to get around, you can stay overnight even if you don’t have a visa, you can purchase no matter what, eat excellent fusion food and play sports every moment of the day and night. For sure what you don’t have to miss is to visit the highest mountaintop of the island – Victoria Peak – where you can enjoy a breath-taking view; a walk along the Victoria Harbour is essential too.
