Il super sailing yacht dalle linee classiche e dalle grandi prestazioni
È uno degli yacht a vela più belli degli ultimi anni. Stiamo parlando di Vijonara, lo sloop di 42 metri che il cantiere Pendennis ha consegnato lo scorso anno al proprio armatore e che ha conquistato gli appassionati. A concepirlo è stato il designer olandese Andre Hoek, che lo descrive così: “Questo è il secondo scafo della gamma “Truly Classic 128”.
Lavorare a un progetto simile è stata un’esperienza entusiasmante dall’inizio alla fine. Si tratta di un sailing yacht creato per una coppia di armatori con grande esperienza. Partendo da una carena ampiamente testata, gli armatori avevano ben chiare le personalizzazioni che desideravano e lo yacht è stato ottimizzato per aumentare ulteriormente le performance”. Il project team di Pendennis, con la supervisione, in qualità di rappresentate dell’armatore, di Nigel Ingram, cofondatore della scoietà americana MCM, ha utilizzato le più moderne tecnologie 3D per assicurare la massima precisione nella simmetria dello yacht. Un’altra sfida ha riguardato i tempi di costruzione: Pendennis ha avuto solo 18 mesi per costruire e mettere in acqua Vijonara.
Per riuscirci, il cantiere, MCM e l’armatore hanno lavorato a stretto contatto per accelerare tutti i processi decisionali. Gli armatori di Vijonara avevano già posseduto diverse barche a vela più piccole e la loro prima richiesta è stata quella di avere un bompresso, non solo per poter armare vele di dimensioni maggiori per le andature portanti, senza bisogno di avere a bordo un equipaggio numeroso, ma anche per ottenere un maggiore comfort a bordo in navigazione. Gli interni sono stati studiati per regalare il massimo comfort durante le crociere in famiglia.
La suite armatoriale comprende bagni separati per lui e per lei e una speciale e unica finestratura che consente all’armatore di godere dell’ambiente sottomarino in ogni momento. A proravia della suite armatoriale è stato realizzato un grande salone con zona TV e libreria, che diventa un’area relax separata dalla zona pranzo. Una richiesta specifica del cliente è stata quella di avere anche un’area palestra, che è stata posizionata a dritta e che all’occorrenza può diventare un’ulteriore cabina.
Nella sezione prodiera ecco le due cabine ospiti, una con letto matrimoniale e una con letti affiancati, entrambe con bagno privato. A garanzia della massima privacy, gli alloggi dell’equipaggio sono situati all’estrema prua. Tutti gli ambienti sono valorizzati grazie all’utilizzo di pannelli in mogano Sapele alternati a dettagli tradizionali, mentre per la pavimentazione è stato scelto noce italiano. Un tocco assolutamente speciale è dato poi dalla scelta degli armatori di collaborare con Hermès: tra gli arredi scelti della celebre Casa francese spiccano la scrivania, diversi divani, due poltrone e il caratteristico planisfero in pelle intarsiata. Pezzi realizzati tutti a mano dagli artigiani di Hermès nel loro atelier.

The super sailing yacht with classic lines and high performance
It is one of the most beautiful sailing yachts in recent years. We are talking about Vijonara, the 42 m sloop created by the Pendennis shipyard to be delivered last year to its ship-owner and that has conquered fans and enthusiasts. Andre Hoek — a Dutch designer — conceived it; he describes it like this: “This is the second yacht belonging to the Truly Classic 128 series.
Working on a project like this was a thrilling experience from beginning to end. It is a sailing yacht designed for a couple of highly experienced ship owners. Starting from a widely tested hull, the ship owners had a very clear vision of the customisations they wanted; therefore, the yacht has been optimised in order to further increase its performance”. The project team at Pendennis, supervised by Nigel Ingram — MCM co-founder and acting as the ship owner’s representative —, used the most modern 3D technologies to ensure the highest precision and exactitude in the symmetry of this yacht.
Another challenge was the construction schedule: Pendennis had just 18 months to build and to put Vijonara in water. To pull it off, the shipyard, MCM and the ship owners worked closely to speed up decision-making. The ship owners had already owned several smaller sailing boats, but 42 m Vijonara was their first new-build project. An early request was for a bowsprit, not just to be able to carry larger downwind sails and for ease of handling with a reduced crew, but also because they enjoyed lounging in the netting while underway.
The interior design has been studied in order to ensure the highest comfort during family cruises. The aft master suite includes his and hers separate bathrooms but also a special and single window which allows the owner to benefit from submarine wildlife at any time. Owners also specifically requested a gym area, located at starboard side and that can become an additional cabin, if necessary. To ensure utmost privacy, crew quarters are placed at the foremost point of the bow.
All spaces are enhanced thanks to Sapele mahogany panels mixed with traditional details while floorings are made of Italian walnut wood. A special touch is given by the partnership with Hermès: the writing desk, many sofas, two armchairs and the peculiar inlaid leather planisphere are all handmade and chosen among a wide furniture selection.
