Mauritius è una terra che tutti dovrebbero percorrere, anche più volte. L’isola per cercare una fuga in totale relax, in mare, magari, con le immersioni nelle tiepide acque dell’Oceano Indiano che toccano i 27 gradi. Oppure esplorando la sua anima pulsante che non è fatta solo di spiagge.
Mauritius è il posto ideale per gli amanti del trekking che incontrano il panorama straordinario sulla vetta del Morne Brabant: 556 metri di roccia basaltica. Oppure, per chi punta a passeggiate meno impegnative, sono molto belle le piantagioni di tè di Bois Chèri, con costruzioni coloniali perfettamente conservate.
Imperdibile il tour alle Terre dei 7 Colori nel Geoparco, in cui si resta a bocca aperta per il paesaggio surreale. Inutile dire che Mauritius è vita pulsante, con feste che prevedono l’incontro di diverse religioni per divertirsi insieme fino a notte fonda con danze, mercatini e ottima cucina. Insomma, se si sceglie questa destinazione, non ci si deve fermare alle spiagge perché anche l’interno offre grandi possibilità.
La soluzione alberghiera da noi preferita è il Beachcomber Dinarobin, un 5 stelle lusso collocato a sud ovest dell’isola. Un viaggio nel viaggio, perché propone una serie di esperienze a tutto tondo.
Oltre alle piscine faraoniche a cascata, agli alloggi con giardino privato, agli sport acquatici e alle escursioni, è stata rinnovata da poco la SPA, un’area eccezionale per il recupero energetico.
Incastonata sulla penisola di Le Morne, gravita attorno ad una piscina in ardesia con piccoli edifici realizzati in materiali naturali. Completamente immersa nel verde è luogo del benessere per eccellenza: nessun rumore, a parte il cinguettio degli uccelli e il fruscio delle foglie di palma agitate dalla brezza marina. Al suo interno lezioni di yoga, Qì Gong, trattamenti viso e corpo, compresi i bendaggi.
E poi shiatsu giapponese, riflessologia, massaggi a quattro mani con sacchetti di citronella immersi in olio di cocco caldo. E, se si viaggia con la famiglia, programmi SPA per ragazzi dai 6 ai 15 anni, che comprendono anche sessioni di yoga personalizzate in base all’età.
Ovviamente non poteva mancare un’offerta culinaria all’altezza del resto: dai pantagruelici buffet del ristorante “L’Harmonie”, alle specialità di mare del “La Plage”.
E per chi ama la cucina orientale, Umami c on elaborati piatti di cucina fusion asiatica; se preferite invece semplicità, il “Dina’s” propone un menù da bistrot incentrato sui prodotti tipici locali, scelti stagionalmente nel rispetto della cucina biologica e sana.

Mauritius: a pearl in the Indian Ocean
A holiday made of sea, sky and colours on an irresistible and magical island.

Mauritius is a land that everyone should travel to, even several times. An island to escape to the sea in complete relaxation and maybe to enjoy diving experiences in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean that reach 27 degrees.
Or maybe to explore its beating soul that is not only about beaches. Mauritius is the perfect place for trekking lovers who can benefit from the breathtaking panorama on the top of Morne Brabant: 556 meters of basaltic rock. For those looking for less demanding walks, the Bois Chèri tea plantations are very beautiful, with perfectly preserved colonial buildings.
Do not miss the tour to the Seven Coloured Earths Geopark where a surreal landscape will blow your mind. It goes without saying that Mauritius means a vibrant life with parties which involve the meeting of different religions to have fun together until late at night with dances, markets and excellent specialities.
So, if you choose this destination, you must go beyond the beaches since the inland offers great possibilities too. Our favourite hotel solution is Beachcomber Dinarobin, a 5-star luxury hotel placed in the south-west area of the island.
A journey within a journey since it offers a series of all-round experiences. In addition to the sumptuous cascading pools, accommodation with private garden, water sports and excursions, the spa has recently been renovated, an exceptional area for energy recovery.
Nestled in the Le Morne peninsula, the resort revolves around a slate swimming pool with small buildings made of natural materials. Surrounded by nature, it represents the place of well-being par excellence: no noise but the tweeting of birds and the rustling of palm leaves in the sea breeze.
Yoga lessons, Qìgong, face and body treatments — including bandages —, Japanese shiatsu, reflexology, four-hand massages with lemongrass bags dipped in hot coconut oil. Moreover, if you are travelling with your family, there are also spa programs for children aged 6 to 15, which also include age-based yoga sessions.
A high-level culinary offer could not be missing: from the huge buffets at the L’Harmonie restaurant to the seafood specialities of La Plage. And for those who love oriental cuisine, there is Umami with elaborate Asian fusion dishes. If you love simple things, Dina’s offers a bistro menu focused on local and seasonal products in line with an organic and healthy cuisine concept.
