PRAISE TO LUXURY

08/12/2023

In Palm Beach, there is a dream residence, entirely designed by interior designer William R. Eubanks with Italian, Russian and British accents with a refined French soul.

Luxury and opulence are the hallmarks of the well-known American interior designer William R. Eubanks, who created this residence with French accents in Palm Beach.

Everything can be understood from the entrance, with the boiserie that defines the spaces in which two 18th-century consoles act as a base for the paintings above. Then, a Regency commode, tondos and gilded Louis XVI° armchairs herald the alluring library, in which shelves, vases and Chinese porcelain plates merge with the volumes, in a cocoon-like and intimate atmosphere where you can relax on the pink sofa or on the padded armchairs. Oriental potiche vases become elegant lampshades.

In the living room, the setting is dominated by the 18th-century Chinese lacquer screen, behind the flamboyant tone-on-tone silk sofa. The ocean is in view through the two open balconies; more sofas and armchairs in gilded wood. This time, the interior designer dared to use an animal-print fabric, which comes back as a decorative leitmotif. There are also round tables of Russian manufacture from the same period, which support the oriental potiche vases. Opulent old-fashioned curtains and a magnificent Aubusson rug seem to direct the gaze towards the Italian and French mirrors, which amplify light and underline the connotative style of Eubanks.

The dining room winks at the residences of pre-revolutionary France: from the crystal drop chandelier over the habillé table to the chairs, from the painting by Boucher to the gilded bronzes, from the gilded and painted trumeau to the Russian-made candleholder. The interior designer has wisely placed a replica of the bust of Augustus on a semi-column of red marble.

Fabrics and silk become the main stars, as in the master bedroom, where the canopy and curtains highlight a colour palette of ivory nuances. The Louis XVI°s lacquered armchairs and the sofa alternate delicate floral motifs with barely perceptible stripes. The furniture accentuates and emphasizes the different pieces: from the Louis XV commode to the desk, and the small contemporary table.

The continental accents of William R. Eubanks mark each residence, in which we can feel his unique taste and propensity for that baroque and classical world, which cannot be scratched by some contemporary fervour.
