This apartment reveals an exceptional personality that speaks of originality, audacity and creative freedom.
In the Recoleta neighbourhood, this old apartment with French neoclassical architecture was skilfully renovated by architect Dolores Otamendi, founder of Dado Estudio, for the artist Luisa Freixas and her family.
The explosive colour palette was the homeowner’s idea, who translated her boldness into a sequence of spaces filled with art, books, creativity and a love for music.
The list of needs was precise: in addition to rethinking the kitchen, modernizing the bathrooms, setting up a games room, and changing the electrical systems and pipes, Luisa wanted the master bedroom to be independent from the two rooms of her three children, and to turn a third room into the son’s bathroom.
The presence of art is one of the strong features. Luisa’s paintings and woodcuts are combined with works by emerging artists and friends; some of the most established Argentinian artists’ works hang on the walls of this apartment.
Ecletismhowever,is another of the vitals of the setting: Luisa opted for a combination of furniture inherited from her mother-in-law, combined with other custom-designed furnishings by DADO – such as the console for music systems and LPs in the living room; the table support of the dining room, and the library in the entrance –, completed by pieces signed by the great masters of the 20th century that Luisa has collected over the last twenty years.
