This makeover gave beauty to a penthouse with eclectic tones, located in one of the liveliest neighbourhoods in the historic centre of Rome.
The Roman interior designer Stefania Grippo renovated her home in Prati – a historic rione of Rome, belonging to the end of the 19th century –, by creating a contemporary but transversal style, to enrich an already charming house.

With a past between Milan, Paris, London and finally Rome, a long experience in the luxury hotel industry and as a gallery owner, the interior designer of Neapolitan origins brings several influences, which translate into an eclectic and refined language where design and art perfectly blend together.

“When the shell already has something to tell, I try to polish it and enhance it, bringing it to a contemporary language by eliminating all the frills that don’t let it breathe” says Stefania Grippo. The interior designer worked on the makeover of a flat that underwent a first major renovation. Today, the house boasts a style that we would define as “urban eclectic”: classic marbles admirably coexist with wood and resin coverings, with a decidedly contemporary touch.

The layout of the house was opened to create a large living area with four rooms that flow into each other.
The movement of the walls is very impactful, creating backdrops in the various rooms, decorated with precious wallpapers made of natural fibres in strong colours, copper and black. The use of colour within neutral environments is a distinguishing feature of Grippo’s interior style. Art lover, collector and gallery owner for years, she brings art into every room. The dining room and the kitchen open onto a small terrace with travertine mosaics and a unique view over the rooftops of Rome.
