INGENIOUS CHARACTER

29/01/2024

A recent renovation gave life and character to this 80s house, with touches of colour, geometries and tributes to Art Deco.

We are just outside the historic centre of Campobasso.

Architect Angelo Luigi Tartaglia, with a studio in Rome, managed the renovation works. The construction dates back to the 1980s, but in 2020 it underwent energy efficiency improvements, as part of the financing program to boost the economy.

The house is spread over three floors. On the ground floor, there is the entrance, a storage room and a staircase leading to the two upper floors. On the first floor, you find a large kitchen, a living room and a guest bathroom.

During the renovation works, architect Tartaglia decided to reduce the kitchen area to give greater priority to the living area, which was divided into a conversation area, a reading corner with a fireplace and a dining area.

On this floor, the leitmotif of the works is punctuated by the rhythm of the large windows with black metal profiles and longitudinal panels; a tribute to the cultured and avant-garde Art Deco of the 20th century.

The glossy white lacquered kitchen, shielded from the conversation area by the H-shaped layout of the windows, was conceived to be efficient and essential; at the same time, it is marked by the addition of some cobalt blue lacquered components which, together with the snack-counter island, make it consistent.

The architect designed another filter area, placed between the living area and the guest bathroom. A volumetric corner made up of two windows separates the two environments in a discreet and non-impacting way.

Upstairs, on the attic floor, you enter the sleeping area and the bathroom. The main bedroom, although attic, has a higher height than the standard, as the pitched roof slabs are exposed.

The white on the walls was toned down by the ceiling works, the addition of a seven-drawer dresser and some decorations. The other room was connected and turned into a large walk-in closet/dressing room, thus replacing the third bedroom.
