New life and new emotions for this living space, which draws from its ancient history the right setting to set modernity and comfort.
On the edge of the monumental historic centre of Florence, on the ground floor of an important 19th-century building, a flat of approximately 150 sqm with an internal garden was renovated in the name of light and silence.
A young couple of entrepreneurs who have lived in Africa for a long time, collectors of works of ancient indigenous craftsmanship, turned it into a quiet urban retreat where they can display, among the furnishings, their precious memorabilia, in modern and spacious environments that are never redundant.
From the original condition of the flat, already al-tered by previous heavy building works, the precious mosaic floors in the kitchen and bedroom were preserved, in a delicate restoration and renovation project.
A neutral flooring in white-grey tones balances and connects these two precious textures, located at the extreme sides of the house. The same white-grey shade can be found in the walls and ceilings to allow the light, which seeps in abundantly from the large and numerous windows, to invade all the rooms and enhance the artworks on display.
The completely open distribution space allows you to perceive the changing perspective views:like a modern gallery, the openings are clear and essential. From the hallway, located right in the heart of the flat and embellished by the black panelling on the back wall, on one side, they frame the living area,consisting of kitchen, dining room and living room, and on the other, the sleeping area,which boasts two bedrooms with private bathrooms. In the master bedroom, the ancient ceiling decorations were preserved, brought to light as they were found during the works, and clearly visible from the mezzanine above the equipped wall.
The matt black shade adopted in the bathrooms – on the resin walls, in the bathroom fixtures and furnishing accessories – offsets the white-grey walls and floors.
Everywhere, balance and elegance mark this living path, made up of glimpses that tell how history and modernity support each other, as accomplices in offering beauty and well-being every day.
