A large penthouse with terrace winks on NYC, while inside the colour allies with elegance and a pinch of eccentricity
James Kieran Pine, with thirty-six years of experience in interior design, is known internationally for his unique architectural style.
By introducing us to his apartment, he told us: “I was very lucky to find this space, a duplex penthouse in the Beekman Place neighbourhood, with a large terrace and view of Midtown Manhattan”.
Some areas have been opened during the renovation project to make the space continuous and dilated. The bathrooms were maintained as they were, with vintage tiles as a tribute to a past era. For James, colour plays a key role in interior design, so for his home.
The main focus for James is to show people, friends or customers, his world and his style. The sitting room displays a series of small collections purchased at auctions, of which the owner is particularly proud: among all, the black-and-white pictures by Elliott Erwitt, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Burt Glinn, Leonard Freed, and Bruno Barbey.
The terrace is the greatest luxury: having dinner above the city, grilling dishes on the barbecue with friends, and enjoying sitting on the sofa on a beautiful sunny Sunday are undoubtedly out-of-the-ordinary things… Just like having a courtyard on the 18th floor in Midtown with a breathtaking view.
