HARMONY IN 9 SUITES

29/04/2025

Just a stone’s throw from the Cathedral, in the sacred heart of Orvieto – one of Italy’s most beautiful medieval towns – stands the aristocratic Palazzo Petrvs

The use of the letter V in place of U in the name Petrvs is a deliberate, evocative choice, lending solemn emphasis to the building, a 15th-century palazzo once owned by the wealthy notary Petrvs Facienus of Orvieto.

Now a five-star hotel, this historic residence has become a new landmark of high-end hospitality in the Umbrian city of art. Each of its nine suites tells its own story of style.

The current owner of Palazzo Petrvs is the young entrepreneur Raffaele Tysserand, who entrusted the restoration and transformation of the prestigious historic building to architect Giuliano Andrea Dell’Uva, of the renowned Naples-based studio that bears his name.

The vision and goal were clear: to create a place capable of offering guests a contemporary Grand Tour experience, with spaces that would not distort, but rather enhance, the original historical context, which had long since been lost.

The philological approach to restoration allowed for the recovery of the original proportions of the rooms and meticulous attention to detail. Wall paintings were preserved, and unpainted walls were finished in warm-toned natural clay plasters. Terracotta floors were laid, echoing the Etruscan heritage of the city and its artisanal culture.

Other floors, in glossy black or gold, were finished with fine metal leafing, thus creating a striking counterpoint between old and new, and adding originality and charm to the residence.

The restoration of Palazzo Petrvs is, above all, a recovery of a historic building in the name of culture and the highest standards of craftsmanship. The synergy that emerged between the owner’s vision and the architect’s tangible interpretation lends uniqueness and emotional resonance to a residence that now stands among the finest examples of Italian luxury hospitality.
