THE POWER OF STYLE

29/08/2024

In Warsaw, a small apartment within a historic building has been renovated with a focus on décor and elegance.

A source of inspiration was the Bauhaus. The apartment is small (about 53 sqm), with 3-metre-high ceilings, and is located in a 1938 modernist historic building in Warsaw known as the “Glass House”.

The owner suggested furnishing in an eclectic style, with furniture and decorations from the period, including Bauhaus, Art Deco, and the Vienna Secession. The interiors highlight a harmonious balance between classic elements and a fusion of different styles, creating cohesive and unconventional spaces.

Functionality was the main goal: there are hidden closets and several storage compartments. Already in the hallway, you can feel the mood that both the designer and the owner have given to the spaces, from the wall decorated with WallDecò wallpaper to the cobalt-blue steel and textured glass doors.

In the bedroom, the bedside tables and the bed are branded Calisia d’oro. These are handmade furniture pieces made of wood in a small Polish workshop. In the kitchen, the white furniture predominates on a bi-optical floor.

In the other rooms, the flooring is made of a wide plank parquet laid in a herringbone pattern. In the living room, the custom-made oak dining table stands out, while the acrylic painting on canvas on the wall above the sofa is by artist Ewa Kędziorek-Marias.

In the bedroom, there is a beautiful “Vienna” bed with a hand-profiled solid oak headboard and a Viennese wicker frame, together with a velvet-covered base. The desk by the window is branded BePureHome, from the Netherlands, and is made of acacia wood. Completing the room’s furnishings are two built-in wardrobes.
