Osservando le linee morbide e tondeggianti dell’edificio oltre al bianco accecante dei muri, abbiamo quasi l’impressione di essere in Grecia e non in una delle più famose località turistiche dell’alto Adriatico. Ed ecco che quando entriamo ci ritroviamo subito “al mare”.

Una grande tavola in legno vintage, un divano pieno di cuscini fantasia che giocano sui toni del blu, due poltroncine rivestite in tessuto candido, delle leggere tende in organza bianca e dinnanzi l’azzurro intenso di una piscina con le palme sullo sfondo. Tutto in questo ambiente ha il sapore di vacanza, ma tutto nello stesso tempo è stato curato con eleganza e personalità.

Scendendo le scale a fianco della piscina, dove una schiera di paperelle di gomma – un’icona della cultura pop – sembrano sul punto di tuffarsi, si entra nel living, un ambiente luminoso con il soffitto in legno sbiancato dal tono leggermente rustico dove il gusto per l’etnico e il vintage si mescola a pezzi di design. È una dimora “ospitale” protesa alla condivisione del riposo e del divertimento; così sul grande tavolo in legno orientale vintage, piatti e bicchieri sono pronti all’uso. Sul mobile contenitore laccato bianco, una tela ad olio di Peter Rostovsky, fa da sfondo a due antichi vasi veneti in terracotta e ad una classica conchiglia che ci ricorda il mare.

Sopra il divano in pelle bianca un quadro astratto, opera di una giovane artista locale; sulla parete antistante, in prossimità della scala, la poltroncina in legno Crate di Gerrit Thomas Rietveld. Salendo la scala un ricordo d’infanzia con una piccola collezione di giocattoli vintage italiani e giapponesi ci accoglie al piano superiore dov’è ubicata la camera padronale contraddistinta da un scenografico soffitto a botte in legno sbiancato. Anche qui il letto è semplice ma impreziosito da lenzuola in lino tinta piombo; sul tavolino bianco Tulip di Eero Saarinen una coloratissima scacchiera di Karim Rashid, a fianco un’antica seggiola da lavoro altoatesina colore azzurro ed una specchiera appoggiata al muro che “regge” ricordi di viaggio: collane vintage in ambra e avorio e un paramento rituale tibetano da cavallo. Una casa al mare piena di sole e relax, dove riposarsi al ritorno da entusiasmanti viaggi tra ricordi e oggetti di raffinata passione.

On the Adriatic Sea shores

Diving in the colorful and joyous atmosphere of this house represents an unforgettable experience.

While looking at the soft and curved lines of the building – besides the dazzling white of walls –, we get the impression that we are in Greece and not in one of the most famous tourist destinations of the northern part of the Adriatic Sea. And that is when we enter the abode that we promptly realize that we are “at the beach”. A large vintage wooden table, a sofa full of patterned cushions that play on the blue tones, two small armchairs upholstered using a pure white fabric, soft curtains in white organza and the intense light blue of a swimming pool in front of us, with palm trees in the background.

In this environment, everything tastes like holiday but – at the same time – everything has been well-finished with elegance and attitude too. Coming down the stairs next to the swimming- pool, where a line of rubber duckies – one of the symbols of the pop culture – look like they’re about to plunge into the pool, we enter the living room: a bright environment with a bleached wooden ceiling, a slightly rustic spirit where the taste for ethnic and vintage is mixed with design pieces. A cosy abode that strives to share rest and amusement; thus, on the large vintage Asian wooden table, dishes and glasses are ready to use. On the white lacquered storage furniture, a Peter Rostovsky’s oil canvas acts as a background to two ancient Venetian terracotta vases and to a classic shell that reminds us the sea. Above the white leather sofa, an Abstract painting, the work of a young local artist; on the opposite wall, in close proximity to the staircase, Crate: Gerrit Thomas Rietveld’s wooden small armchair.

Climbing the staircase, a childhood memory with a small collection of Italian and Japanese vintage toys welcomes us upstairs where the master bedroom is placed, distinguished by a spectacular barrel ceiling in bleached wood. Here too, the bedroom is simple but embellished with lead-grey linen bed sheets; on the “Tulip” white small table by Eero Saarinen, there is the colorful chessboard by Karim Rashid, next to an ancient light blue chair used to work in Alto Adige and a dressing table leaning against the wall that “holds up” travel memories: vintage necklaces in ivory and amber and ritual Tibetan horse vestments. A beach house, full of sun and relaxation, a place to rest on the way back from exciting journeys between memories and items of polished passion.
