Uno spazio ampio e luminoso nato dal concept di un loft/laboratorio all’interno del quale Gennaro Avallone propone le sue creazioni. Negli ultimi venticinque anni l’artista-designer ha creato opere ed arredi nel suo showroom a Milano. Così siamo andati a scoprire questo tempio di eleganza ed innovazione, questa “cattedrale”, per meglio dire, ubicata a Milano, in una ex fabbrica di salumi ormai dismessa e dove i celebri manufatti diventano oggi protagonisti di un palcoscenico “domestico”.

Questo ambiente sintetizza infatti il concept atelier& home. Qui la composizione dello spazio è volutamente “basica”, una semplicità ridisegnata e reinterpretata grazie allo studio di arredi “custom made” e dettagli, ricchi e rivoluzionari, come le preziose tele ed il vetro scultoreo.

Gli interni restituiscono un’immagine essenziale, percepibile nell’involucro neutro fatto di muri definiti da intonaco grezzo, alternati a superfici pigmentate con essenze naturali, e animato dal ritmo delle travi metalliche che intercettano il disegno regolare della “perlinatura” lignea caratterizzante il living.

Grazie agli originali serramenti dal taglio industriale, incorniciati da un telaio in ferro nero uniforme, la casa si riempie di luce che va ad enfatizzare lo spazio avvolgendo le opere più preziose. La riconversione di questo storico volume ha dato vita ad una casa che presenta un gioco di contrasti efficaci: la coesistenza del cemento quale elemento prioritario di finitura e la raffinatezza dei materiali d’arredo. È una galleria d’arte che convive alla meraviglia con la quotidianità di chi abita la ricercata sfera domestica; le funzioni si miscelano senza soluzione di continuità calibrando l’esposizione dei prodotti.

Gennaro Avallone crea oggetti d’arredo o di design ricevendo commissioni specifiche o venendo incontro alle richieste degli ospiti che visitano il suo studio e si innamorano dei prodotti esposti, una linea di creazioni di altissimo artigianato. Uno sfondo intrigante e suggestivo per opere dal look “museale”.

A wide and bright space born from the concept of “loft/studio” where Gennaro Avallone displays his creations. During the last 25 years, the artist and designer has created works of art and pieces of furniture inside his showroom in Milan. So, we went to discover this temple of elegance and innovation, this “cathedral” – let us say – placed in Milan, in a former cold cuts factory – now abandoned – and where famous artifacts become today the main characters on a “domestic” stage. Indeed, this environment summarizes the “atelier&home” concept.

Here, the arrangement of spaces is deliberately “basic”, a naturalness redesigned and reinterpreted thanks to the pursuit of “custom made” pieces of furniture and details – rich and groundbreaking ones – such as the precious paintings and the sculptural glass. The inside of the house gives back an essential appearance, noticeable in the neutral shell of walls, defined by the raw plaster and alternated with surfaces pigmented with natural essences, liven up by the rhythm of metal beams that intercept the regular pattern of the wooden “matchboarding” which distinguishes the living room.

Thanks to the original doors and windows with an industrial look and framed by a uniform black iron framework, the house is flooded by light which enhances the space by wrapping up the most precious works of art. The reconversion of this historic building has given life to a house which displays an incisive play of contrasts: the concrete consistency is a finishing primary element together with the sophistication of decor materials. An art gallery that marvelously lives together with the daily routine of those who live that sought-after domestic sphere; purposes mix without a continuity solution, calculating the display of products.

Gennaro Avallone creates pieces of furniture and works of design through specific orders/jobs or accommodating guests’ requests who visit his studio and fall in love with the displayed products. An entangling and appealing background
