L’intervento di riqualificazione del sottotetto di un’elegante casa d’epoca dona alla nuova mansarda una singolare e caratteristica veste strutturale ed estetica.

Il precedente rifacimento del tetto di una casa d’epoca aveva snaturato la storica fisionomia della mansarda, ripristinata con un anonimo e piatto soffitto di cemento grezzo e delimitata da basse pareti perimetrali di mattoni rossi. Il nuovo intervento di riqualificazione architettonica, condotto da Studio Giardino e concluso nell’allestimento interno dallo staff di Far Arreda, ha ridefinito e valorizzato l’originaria identità abitativa.

In primis, per recuperare la perduta personalità della dimora, sono stati riposizionati sul soffitto, quindi anche ridipinti, i travetti e le travi a vista. In secondo luogo, per mantenere comunque memoria della precedente ristrutturazione, le pareti in mattoni, intervallate da stratificazioni cementizie, sono state colorate e reinterpretate in chiave moderna, divenendo comune denominatore di tutti gli ambienti, tanto nell’area giorno quanto nella zona notte.

L’armonia strutturale e la ricercatezza estetica si sono infine unite e amalgamate alle cromie generali, scelte e declinate in diverse tonalità di grigi. L’atmosfera pertanto è delicata e piacevole e le sfumature tonali sottolineano l’omogeneità condivisa alla base della progettazione.

L’ingresso conduce allo spazio giorno, organizzato ad open space: qui l’area salotto con i divani grigi affiancati da due poltrone blu si rivolge a un’ordinata parete suddivisa a scomparti dalla libreria a colonna e dal mobile ad ante a scomparsa, che nasconde il reparto con TV e wi-fi. La piccola oggettistica, scelta con cura in relazione agli spazi e all’arredo, impreziosisce le mensole e gli angoli del living così come all’occorrenza apparecchia a festa il vicino tavolo da pranzo, realizzato con tavole di legno naturale e contornato da quattro poltrone, di diversa forma e colore.

Il dettaglio, che arreda e rivela la nuova personalità della dimora e di chi la abita, spicca anche in cucina. Una robusta radice di un albero costituisce la maniglia della porta scorrevole, mentre alcuni vecchi plafoni di un soffitto francese sono stati usati come insolita decorazione dell’isola centrale. Le delicate cromie e il mood dell’abitazione proseguono nella zona notte, dove il rivestimento a quadri conferisce maggiore eleganza alla camera e al bagno padronali.

Rediscovered identity

The improvements of the crawl space inside an elegant vintage abode give a unique and characteristic role to the new attic, according to its structure and appearance.

The previous remake of the roof of an antique abode had distorted the historical appearance of the attic, renovated with a featureless and dull ceiling in raw concrete and bordered by low perimeter walls of red bricks. The new restoration and refurbishment activity – carried out by Studio Giardino and completed with the interior setting up by Far Arreda – redefined and enhanced the original housing identity.

First and foremost, in order to restore the lost character of the abode, some rafters and exposed beams have been replaced on the ceiling and then repainted. Secondly, to keep alive the memory of the previous renovation, brick walls – interspersed with cementitious layering – have been painted, embellished and reinterpreted in a modern way, later becoming the common denominator in all environments, in the living area as much as in the sleeping one. The structural balance and the aesthetic attention to detail are lastly combined and mixed to general tones, chosen and displayed in different shades of grey.

Hence the atmosphere is delicate and pleasant; colour shades highlight the shared homogeneity at the base of the design. The entryway leads to the living area organised as an open space: here, the sitting room area with grey sofas matched by two blue armchairs speaks to a tidy compartmentalized wall together with freestanding bookcase and a piece of furniture with pop-up doors that hides the Wi-Fi and TV area.

Small accessories and items – chosen with care in connection to spaces and pieces of furniture – embellish the shelves and the corners of the living room; they also warmly and plentifully set the nearby dining room table where necessary, crafted using natural wood boards and surrounded by four armchairs with different colours and shapes.

The detail – that decorates and reveals the new personality of the abode and its owners’ attitude – stands out in the kitchen too. A solid tree root makes up the handle of the sliding door while some parts of the ancient French ceilings act as unusual adornments of the central island. The delicate shades and the mood of the abode carry on in the sleeping area where the checkered coating makes the master bedroom and bathroom even more elegant.
