One of the founders of Dot Design – a shop and design studio in Arzignano – opens the doors of her house.
The friendship and shared passion for furniture and design between the interior designers Dario De Toni and Alice Bonato, together with a successful manager from Vicenza, resulted in the establishment of Dot Design, a shop and design studio in Arzignano, which managed the interior makeover of the house displayed in these pages.
The flat is the residence of the co-founder and boasts an absolutely contemporary interior style. It is located in the historic centre of Valdagno, in an ancient building that has been recently renovated.
Ancient and modern thus come together in an osmotic indivisibility, where the past embraces and welcomes the present. The rooms are marked by exposed beams, Venetian floors and original double-leaf doors. The different areas become the elegant exhibition rooms of a precious collection of design pieces.
Antique furnishings do not come into play, and everything is affected by the full and enveloping contemporaneity of the most important brands. Each object is a style icon that can be admired. Organized on two floors, the property develops the living area on the main floor of the historic building, while the sleeping areawith a large wardrobe space is in the attic.
On the lower floor, the main boardroom is the central hall, boasting white side walls with Marmorino and a lively curtain of orange fabric in contrast, which creates a modern setting.
An unconventional colour that stands out on the ancient shades and which, however, calls to mind the warm hue of the exposed beams.
Works by contemporary artists hang on the fabrics, and around, as previously said, every other object bears the signature of contemporary design: the rug, the leather upholstered furniture, the coffee tables, the storage unit, the lamps, the armchairs… Every piece of furniture is traceable to a name and, as in a museum, is exhibited “to the public”.
The kitchen with dining area and the studio stand out on the right and left sides of the living room; the dinette is in the background, a more private and intimate TV room.
These environments also compete in modernity: the professional kitchen is completely made of steel while the studio is tidy and minimal. Here everything is selected, as well as every detail of the sleeping area.
